Job SummaryThe University of Kentucky College of Medicine is seeking clinical faculty for the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine within the Department of Internal Medicine. The primary job duties are clinical service responsibilities, which will be divided among both hospital-based and outpatient clinical services for patients cared for at Chandler and Good Samaritan UK HealthCare Hospitals, the Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine division’s clinical service, and associated clinics. This position will involve clinical and didactic teaching of pulmonary and critical care fellows, residents and students. The individual will be expected to be an active participant and leader of division and department clinical activities, as well as serve on clinical committees that enhance the care of patients and operation of clinical practice. Beyond these primary duties, there are significant opportunities for professional development in medical education, clinical and translational research, and clinical operations. The Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine Division has active NIH-funded research programs in circadian biology, ICU rehabilitation, airway disease, and pulmonary fibrosis, and UK serves as a site for numerous clinical trials related to lung disease

About the Department of Internal Medicine

The Department of Internal Medicine is the largest in the College of Medicine and at the University of Kentucky with approximately 334 faculty, 157 staff, 214 residents and fellows, and 203 advanced practice providers. The department has 14 clinical divisions and 2 non-clinical divisions within its scope. The department of internal medicine is led by Dr. Darwin L. Conwell, MD, MS, FACG and departmental leaders including Vice Chairs, Associate Vice Chairs, and the Office of the Chair Administration team.

Internal Medicine faculty secure over $35 million in grant funding annually to pursue cutting-edge research and discoveries, supporting projects in all internal medicine subspecialties. The department has published 287 peer-reviewed articles in the past year and maintains more than 50 active clinical trials and 240 active grants and contracts. The Department of Internal Medicine has 211 faculty who are actively involved in research activities and supervise biomedical learners, including PhD and master’s students, to gain in-depth experience in high-impact research labs.
