Full job description

Financial Operations Analyst | Cannabis Industry Location: Scottsdale, AZ Area Compensation: $65,000 base salary

Vangst is partnering with our client, a growing and mission-driven cannabis brand, to find a talented Financial Operations Analyst to join their finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow your accounting career in one of the fastest-growing industries in the country.

About the Role In this role, you'll be instrumental in optimizing financial processes and records, while supporting key financial operations in coordination with Supply Chain, Inventory, and Operations teams. You'll play a critical part in maintaining compliance with internal controls and GAAP, including supporting the procurement and payables function. If you have a strong foundation in accounting, excellent communication skills, and a desire to grow within a collaborative, supportive workplace — we want to hear from you.

What You'll Do

  • Accounts Payable & Vendor Contract Analysis: Track invoices from receipt through approval, matching, and payment. Review vendor invoices against contract terms (pricing, payment terms, discounts, freight) to confirm billing accuracy. Identify and resolve discrepancies, escalating material variances as needed. Support AP aging and payment timing to optimize cash flow.
  • Compliance & Controls: Ensure financial processes align with state cannabis regulatory requirements and licensing conditions. Support internal/external audits and strengthen internal controls documentation.
  • Analysis & Cross-Functional Support: Partner with Supply Chain, Operations, and Procurement to translate financial results into actionable insights, including margin analysis by product line, customer, or sales channel. Assist with cash flow forecasting and ad hoc financial modeling.
  • Discrepancy Resolution & Process Improvement: Identify slow-paying accounts, recommend collection candidates, and help streamline financial processes.
  • Financial Integrity & Reporting: Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in financial reporting; process incoming payments (ACH, wire, check, credit card) in compliance with banking regulations.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • At least 1 year of experience in financial analysis, accounts payable, collections, or a related accounting role
  • Experience with month-end/year-end close is a plus
  • Proficiency with accounting systems (NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP) and strong Excel skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity

What's Offered

  • Competitive base salary of $65,000
  • Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) and company holidays
  • Professional development and career advancement opportunities
