Full job description
We're looking for an Entry-Level Mechanical Engineer in Electronics business unit based in Pittsburgh, PA metro area who is excited about working on projects that enable the heart of our clients’ business. Join us and you’ll have the chance to work on projects including state-of-the-art industrial facilities. You’ll be accountable for schedule and technical quality of challenging engineering tasks, as you gain familiarity with the client’s expectations, scope, budget and schedule. You may also provide on-site assistance during startup, coordinating work activities with other staff members and the discipline lead. Your multi-discipline, highly interactive team will successfully deliver on the design, development, application, evaluation, recommendation, and specification of engineered systems and products for building HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection Systems. This Position is intended to develop experience, communication skills, the practical application of knowledge, and familiarity with the project execution processes

This is a hybrid entry level position. Candidates will work from Jacob’s office 2-3 days a week, with the option of working from home or the office on other days. There may be opportunities to visit client sites depending on project needs.
General Tasks Performed:

Performs and properly documents/annotates engineering calculations
-
Develop drawings for equipment layouts and facility systems and interconnects
-
Selects equipment using standard sizing guidelines and specifications
-
Develops clear understanding and documents scope, schedule, and deliverables
-
Develops communication and presentation skills, coordinates information flow within design team and across the disciplines

Assists with project delivery tasks including client issue tracking, change control, and responding to contractor questions and equipment submittals

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, or closely related major
-
Ability to report a minimum of twice per week to the local office

Ideally you will also have

Engineer in Training (EIT) or in progress

Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit or other 3D modeling software

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Forward thinking, eager to learn best practices, and contribute with innovative ideas

Displayed ability to learn quickly and driven to broaden knowledge base

Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary and international teams

Demonstrated ability to plan and organize own work and activities of others to successfully meet project deadlines

Passion for buildings and construction, prior construction or facility design experience preferred
