Job Title: Supplier Quality EngineerJob Description
The Supplier Quality Engineer ensures that supplied products and processes consistently meet defined quality, regulatory, and performance requirements. This role gathers and analyzes factual data to solve complex quality issues, leads cross-functional projects with realistic timelines, and drives continuous improvement in collaboration with internal teams and external suppliers. The position focuses on auditing, inspection, and testing activities to verify conformance to established standards, while supporting new product introductions and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and regulatory stakeholders.
Responsibilities

Gather relevant, factual information and data to identify, analyze, and resolve quality-related problems.

Resolve quality issues by identifying and applying solutions based on technical experience, established procedures, and guided precedents.

Plan and lead quality projects by organizing activities into time-dependent sequences with realistic timelines and clear deliverables.

Work productively with all departments, fostering a collaborative team atmosphere to achieve quality objectives.

Ensure products conform to established requirements and standards through appropriate audit, inspection, and test activities.

Interact with internal functional departments, external suppliers, and subject matter experts to implement quality goals and initiatives.

Evaluate process methods and equipment to ensure they meet performance and quality requirements for supplied products.

Establish quality plans for equipment and processes to support both general and specific product performance needs.

Monitor process performance against standards and take action when results deviate from expected quality levels.

Apply regulatory and quality system requirements (including QSR and related regulations) to internal and supplier processes and procedures.

Collaborate with suppliers on new product introductions to ensure that quality and performance requirements are clearly defined and fulfilled.

Assist Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Development teams in interpreting and applying relevant regulations and quality system requirements.

Develop and maintain department and project budgets, ensuring quality initiatives are adequately resourced and cost-effective.

Facilitate team efforts on quality engineering projects, guiding cross-functional groups toward successful completion.

Review information from supporting departments, identify inaccuracies, and propose corrective actions to improve data integrity.

Maintain a thorough understanding of existing products and use this knowledge to support quality planning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
Essential Skills

Proven ability to work effectively within a team environment and build strong relationships across departments and with external partners such as suppliers and regulatory agencies.

Experience facilitating and leading team-based quality engineering projects.

Strong results orientation with the ability to deliver work on time and meet deadlines consistently.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at multiple levels of the organization.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite for data analysis, documentation, and reporting.

Expert knowledge of blueprint reading and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).

Understanding of quality system regulations (QSR) and related regulatory requirements as they apply to internal and supplier processes.

Experience with design assurance activities, including risk analysis, FMEA, and product testing methods.

Ability to use optical comparators and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) for inspection and measurement.

Knowledge of statistics, statistical process control (SPC), and process capability analysis.

Full working knowledge of supporting department needs and capabilities, including the ability to recognize inaccurate information and suggest corrections.

Thorough knowledge base of existing products and an understanding of how quality requirements apply to them.

Bachelors degree in engineering or an alternative bachelors degree with certification as a quality engineer (e.g., CQE).

Approximately 5 years of experience in a Quality Engineering role, with medical device experience strongly preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
-
Certification as a Quality Engineer (CQE) or Reliability Engineer (CRE) granted through the American Society for Quality (ASQ) is preferred.

Experience in the medical device industry, including familiarity with applicable regulations and quality expectations, is strongly preferred.

Background in design assurance, including FMEA and product testing, is highly beneficial.

Experience working directly with suppliers on new product introductions and supplier quality initiatives.

Ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements in partnership with Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Development teams.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data-driven approaches to improve process capability and product quality.

Comfort working in a structured quality system environment and contributing to continuous improvement of procedures and processes.
Work Environment
This is an onsite role, working on-site five days per week in a manufacturing and engineering-focused environment. The position operates primarily on a first-shift schedule. The Supplier Quality Engineer collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and technical experts, using tools such as Microsoft Office, optical comparators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) to support inspection and analysis activities. The work environment emphasizes adherence to formal quality systems and regulatory requirements, with a strong focus on product performance, process control, and continuous improvement.

This is a Contract position based out of Warsaw, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $31.00 - $37.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
