Full job description

Founded in 1938, Wilcox Medical Center is a not-for-profit medical center dedicated to providing the Kaua‘i community with accessible quality health care. The largest medical center on Kaua‘i, it is a state-of-the-art acute care facility with a full suite of services offering 30 specialties and programs, including cardiology, emergency, family practice, gastroenterology, health management, internal medicine, neurology, OB-GYN, oncology, orthopedics, pediatrics and urology. Its 18-bed emergency department serves as the island’s Primary Stroke Center. The medical center also has four birthing suites, seven intensive care beds and 20 same-day surgery beds. Wilcox is the first American College of Surgeons-verified Level III Trauma Center in the state of Hawai‘i. Wilcox is part of Hawai‘i Pacific Health, one of the state’s leading health care systems and a not-for-profit health care organization with medical centers, clinics, physicians and other caregivers working together to create a healthier Hawai‘i.

The Quality Management staff provides infection control oversight throughout the hospital in order to ensure a safe care environment. These dedicated professionals identify, investigate and record data concerning nosocomial or hospital-acquired infections. They perform quality improvement studies to identify and implement action plans to improve the prevention of nosocomial infections, as well as plan and measure unit rotation to meet The Joint Commission, State and Federal regulations as directed by the Infection Control Committee.

If you have a great sense of quality control and meticulous testing protocol, you could be our next Point of Care Testing Coordinator at Hawai‘i Pacific Health hospitals and clinics. You will be responsible for developing a quality control and quality assurance program in clinical pathology for all ancillary laboratories that perform testing outside the Pathology Department, in compliance with accrediting and regulatory agencies. We are looking for someone who pays strong attention to detail and shares our commitment to creating a healthier Hawai‘i.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or related field. Medical Technologist Certification (MT) from the American Association of Bioanalysts (ABB) OR Certified Medial Technologist (MT) from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) OR current Hawai’i Respiratory Therapy License. Five (5) years medical technologist or related experience. Current Hawai‘i Medical Technologist license.

Preferred Qualifications: Point of Care Testing Evaluator (POCTE) qualification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
