Full job description

About Probably Genetic Probably Genetic is changing the lives of patients living with severe, complex diseases. Our data platform is used by drug developers and patient advocacy groups to develop and launch treatments for these patients. Our technology discovers undiagnosed patients online, analyzes their disease state using machine learning and at-home testing, and enables compliant communication with patients. In doing so, we help patients access diagnoses, clinical trials, and treatments as early as possible. We are a tight-knit group of hard-working, ambitious problem solvers united by a mission greater than ourselves. We do well by doing right by patients. We are developing some of the most cutting-edge solutions in healthcare, and our roadmap is packed with innovations in bioinformatics, AI, and drug development. We have built a lean, all-star team to help us bring our vision to life, and we want you to be a part of it. Probably Genetic has raised multiple rounds of funding from Silicon Valley’s best investors, including Threshold, Khosla, and Y Combinator, and offer competitive salaries, comprehensive benefits, and meaningful early stage equity. About the role We are at an inflection point. With a Series B on the horizon and a growing portfolio of partnerships with drug developers and patient advocacy groups, we need a Chief of Staff who can operate as a true right hand to the Founder and CEO — someone who runs toward complexity, brings structure to ambiguity, and holds the highest standards of craft and detail. You will own high-stakes initiatives, manage venture fundraising end-to-end alongside the CEO, and serve as a force multiplier across the leadership team. If you have thrived in fast-moving, dynamic environments and want your work to directly improve patient outcomes, this is the role for you.

What you will do Venture fundraising & existing investor relations (20%)

  • Own the end-to-end venture fundraising due diligence: materials, data room, investor outreach, pipeline management, and follow-through

  • Serve as the primary point of coordination between the CEO and prospective and existing investors

  • Prepare board meeting materials, manage the board cadence, and ensure follow-ups are tracked and closed

  • Draft investor updates, pitch narratives, and other strategic communications with precision and clarity

CEO leverage, strategic though partnership & cross-functional execution (40%)

  • Reduce CEO time on operational overhead by 30%+ by owning recurring processes, decision tracking, and stakeholder communication

  • Lead cross-functional projects that span multiple teams, ensuring clarity of ownership, timelines, and outcomes

  • Identify bottlenecks across the organization and build scalable processes to address them before they become problems

  • Prepare the CEO for key meetings with background briefs, talking points, and follow-up documentation

Strategic external communications (40%)

  • Own end to end preparation and execution for quarterly board meetings and mid-quarter check-ins

  • Draft external communications on behalf of the CEO, including company-wide updates, partner communications, and thought leadership via a variety of social channels

  • Ensure data and messaging is consistent and reflects the company's mission and values by creating a consistent framework for use by CEO and broader Leadership Team

Who you are We are looking for a few specific things that will help you succeed in this role:

  • 8+ years of experience, with a strong foundation in management consulting (McKinsey, BCG, Bain, or equivalent) and subsequent operating experience at a high-growth startup

  • Prior experience supporting or managing a fundraising process (Series A>D ideally); demonstrated understanding of investor relations and venture dynamics

  • Track record of operating at the intersection of strategy and execution — you are as comfortable in a boardroom as you are building a process from scratch

  • Experience in healthtech or biotech or track record of operating in highly complex industries

  • Meticulous attention to detail — you catch errors others miss and hold every output to an exceptionally high standard

  • Proven, demonstrable AI literacy — you actively use AI tools (beyond prompting) in your daily workflow and can lead others in doing the same

  • Exceptional written communication — you write with clarity, economy, and impact

  • Skilled at managing multiple shifting priorities without dropping the ball — you thrive in dynamic environments where the roadmap changes week to week

  • High emotional intelligence and leadership presence — you know when to push, when to listen, and how to build trust quickly

  • A collaborative, low-ego operating style — you care about outcomes, not credit

As with all new hires at Probably Genetic, you will also need to be:

  • A good person. We work with some of the most marginalized populations on the planet and empathy is key

  • Patient-focused and motivated to have a lasting, positive impact on humanity

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, often ambiguous environment with rapid change

  • Action-oriented and excited to build a company from the ground up

What we offer at Probably Genetic:

  • An engaging and supportive team all on a mission to improve lives

  • Fair and equitable compensation with competitive early-stage equity grants

  • Generous Flexible Time off policy, that we actually use

  • Parental Leave Benefits (12 weeks for both birthing and non-birthing)

  • Hybrid, flexible work with high-trust and autonomy

  • A bright, inviting, pet-friendly office in Downtown SF near transit

  • Company-sponsored team lunch every Thursday

  • A “work from anywhere” policy, up to 4 weeks a year

  • Regular team retreats in exciting destinations

  • Health Benefits including medical, dental, vision, therapy, FSA, and 401k

  • And so much more!

Probably Genetic is committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive work environment for people of all genders, sexuality, ethnicity, socioeconomic background and life experiences. We urge candidates of all backgrounds to apply. If you require specific accommodations as you interview or consider working with us, please let us know.
