Job Description
Ralph & Candace Miller cattle located in White Sulphur Springs, MT, has an opening for a livestock range worker. Worker will be required to be available up to 24 hours per day, 7 days a week and spend the majority of workdays on the range. All job duties are closely and directly related to the production of livestock. Duties include: Perform any combination of the following tasks to attend to livestock: examine animals to detect diseases and injuries; administer emergency minor medical care to sick/injured animals including applying medications; feed and water livestock and ensure adequate provision of both; herd and trail cattle through varying terrain at appropriate pace to ensure adequate water and forage; brand, tag, clip or otherwise mark animals for identification purposes; assist with castration and vaccination of livestock; assist with maintenance of facilities, fences, and equipment; report to employer on animal health, water, forage, and weather conditions; assist with supplemental feeding when weather or quality of forage precludes use of range forage. During the winter months, the worker will return to headquarters housing at night and will be responsible for winter related duties including: worker will help with calving and will clean and maintain calving facilities; worker will be on call at night in the event of calving difficulties; worker will help during the day with turning cow/calf pairs to pasture and monitoring health and well-being of calves. Work is performed at multiple ranch locations within Meagher County, Montana. Travel between sites required, provided by employer vehicle. Requirements: 12 months of experience with each job duty.
