Full job description
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Logistics Analyst to join a growing team in Michigan on a contract basis with the potential for a permanent role. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with transportation data, reviewing freight activity, and identifying opportunities to improve cost accuracy and operational efficiency. The role supports day-to-day logistics analysis through reporting, rate review, and coordination across freight-related processes in an in-office environment.
Responsibilities:

Analyze transportation and freight data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for cost control.

Maintain and update rate information while helping ensure pricing records remain accurate and aligned with current shipping activity.

Review freight invoices and related documentation to support audit efforts and resolve billing inconsistencies.

Prepare Excel-based reports, trackers, and summaries to provide clear visibility into logistics performance and shipping status.

Enter and validate shipment, pricing, and operational data in internal systems with a high level of accuracy.

Monitor ground and surface transportation activity, including intermodal and railroad-related movements, and communicate relevant updates to stakeholders.

Assist with freight management activities by coordinating information, tracking exceptions, and supporting issue resolution.

Contribute to pricing discussions and support negotiations by gathering data, comparing rate structures, and highlighting cost impacts. Requirements • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to organize, analyze, and report on large sets of data.

Experience in logistics, freight coordination, transportation analysis, or a closely related field.

Knowledge of ground, surface, intermodal, or railroad transportation operations.

Ability to perform detailed data entry and maintain accurate records across multiple systems.

Familiarity with freight auditing, invoice review, or rate validation processes.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to investigate issues and present clear findings.

Effective communication skills for providing status updates and collaborating with internal teams.

Experience supporting pricing reviews or negotiating transportation rates is preferred.
