Accounting Manager

Description

An established North County organization is looking for an Accounting Manager to lead its day-to-day accounting operations and serve as a key partner to company leadership. This is a hands-on management role for someone who enjoys being close to the numbers rather than sitting exclusively in a supervisory capacity.

The Accounting Manager will oversee the accounting cycle, month-end close, financial reporting, AP/AR, reconciliations, and internal controls while helping improve the overall efficiency of the department.

What You'll Own:

• Manage daily accounting operations and accounting workflows

• Oversee AP, AR, cash activity, and general ledger functions

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes

• Review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations

• Prepare and review monthly financial statements

• Analyze financial results and explain significant variances

• Maintain the chart of accounts and accounting policies

• Oversee bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations

• Monitor cash flow and working capital

• Manage accounting schedules for prepaid expenses, accruals, fixed assets, and other accounts

• Review AR aging, collections, and customer account activity

• Oversee vendor payments and AP aging

• Coordinate payroll-related accounting activities

• Establish and maintain effective internal controls

• Assist with annual budgets and financial forecasts

• Coordinate with external CPA, tax professionals, and auditors

• Prepare schedules and documentation for audits and tax filings

• Identify opportunities to improve accounting systems and processes

• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff

Requirements

• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience

• 2+ years in an Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or similar leadership role

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting

• Advanced Excel skills

• Experience with ERP/accounting software

• Strong month-end and year-end close experience

• Excellent reconciliation and analytical skills

• Strong leadership and communication abilities

• CPA is a plus but not required
