Full job description

Summary:

Meta's infrastructure — data centers, energy, hardware, custom silicon, and global networks — is the physical foundation of AI and our core products. We are looking for an experienced communications leader to own the narrative, media, and stakeholder strategy for Meta's energy and sustainability infrastructure, along with our subsea and networking portfolio. This is a builder's role. Infrastructure leadership across energy and hardware has signaled a growing appetite for proactive communications, and this position exists to meet it: turning our strongest proofpoints — energy investment, grid contributions, nuclear and renewable partnerships, water stewardship, net zero innovation — into sustained proactive programs rather than one-off moments. You will operate as the subject-matter expert for the infrastructure organization, partnering closely with Public Affairs, Marketing, Policy, and Strategic Response, and advising VP-level and senior leaders directly.

Required Skills:

Communications Manager, Infrastructure Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and lead proactive communications strategies for Meta's energy, sustainability, and infrastructure work, translating complex technical subject matter into compelling narratives.

  2. Build message platforms, proofpoints, and collateral that can be used consistently across media, executive, and internal channels.

  3. Lead communications for major infrastructure and partnership announcements, from strategy through execution and measurement.

  4. Serve as a communications subject-matter expert on infrastructure topics, providing counsel and context on reactive media inbounds and sensitive or high-scrutiny issues.

  5. Build and maintain relationships with national, trade, and local media covering technology, energy, and infrastructure.

  6. Support localized community, jobs, and economic impact storytelling across Meta's growing global infrastructure footprint.

  7. Help build and sustain infrastructure leadership presence across owned and earned channels, including coaching senior executives on external engagement.

  8. Represent communications at onsite moments and industry events, including site openings, tours, and conferences.

  9. Partner closely with cross-functional teams — including Public Affairs, Policy, Marketing, Strategic Response, and Legal — to align messaging and manage risk.

  10. Manage multiple concurrent workstreams and competing priorities, balancing proactive programs against a steady volume of reactive demand.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 8+ years of communications experience in-house, at an agency, or a combination, including significant experience in technology, energy, infrastructure, or industrial sectors

  2. Demonstrated track record building and executing proactive communications programs — not solely reactive or announcement-driven work

  3. Deep media relations experience with national, trade, and local/hyperlocal outlets, including experience with complex technical subject matter

  4. Experience counseling and preparing senior executives for media engagements and owned-channel presence

  5. Proven issues and crisis communications judgment on high-scrutiny topics

  6. Experience operating independently across multiple concurrent workstreams in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment

  7. Track record of influencing and driving alignment across cross-functional partners without direct authority

  8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical content for non-technical audiences

  9. Willingness to travel to onsite moments, including data center openings, groundbreakings, energy site tours, and executive events

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Direct experience communicating on energy, utilities, grid, sustainability, or climate topics

  2. Familiarity with data center development, semiconductors/custom silicon, or network and subsea infrastructure

  3. Experience working alongside public affairs or policy teams on community and regulatory-facing issues

  4. Experience building an executive communications program from an early or undeveloped baseline

  5. Experience supporting large-scale partnership or ecosystem announcements with multiple external stakeholders

  6. Prior Meta experience

  7. Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)

  8. Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)

  9. Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies

Public Compensation:

$146,000/year to $206,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Industry: Internet
