Summary

This position is located in the Division of Risk Management Supervision, Capital Markets, Accounting, and Policy Branch, Risk Analytics and Policy Section of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provides support in areas relating to capital markets function for large, complex financial institutions and community bank operations and activities. Additional selections may be made from this vacancy announcement to fill similar vacancies that occur subsequent to this announcement.

Duties

Performs quantitative and qualitative research and data analysis to support the development of agency and/or interagency policy and guidance with respect to: regulatory capital; liquidity; interest rate risk; capital markets instruments, activities, and strategies; and other supervisory issues. Performs quantitative and qualitative data analysis to evaluate the potential impact of regulatory and capital markets changes on the general economy, the banking industry and the Deposit Insurance Fund in developing recommended actions for purposes of promoting safety and soundness or protecting the financial stability of the United States. Performs quantitative and qualitative data analyses to support the development of rules, regulations, and supervisory guidance affecting the capital markets, banking sector, risk profile, and other emerging risks affecting large financial institutions and community banks, to ensure the timely identification and ongoing monitoring of risks posed by these institutions to the Deposit Insurance Fund. Evaluates the output of quantitative and qualitative studies related to regulatory capital, liquidity, and other capital markets risk, including those studies performed in conjunction with staff from other Divisions and regulatory agencies. Reports quantitative and qualitative analytical findings through presentations, meetings and written products to a variety of internal and external audiences; such audiences will include senior management of the FDIC, personnel at other regulatory agencies, insured institution representatives, and the public. Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 12 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing complex financial or economic analyses as part of a team to identify and evaluate sources of credit, liquidity, market and other capital markets risk in a financial institution environment, or assisting in the development of, or analysis and compliance with, regulations and interpretations that govern regulatory capital and/or capital markets activities.
