The District Manager is responsible for assuring that district personnel meet agency production and quality standards for adjudication of Social Security and SSI disability claims by the correct application of policy and procedural guidelines established by law and by agency policy and by establishing working relationships with the SSA District Office, the medical community and other public and private organizations.

Position Description Job Specification

Education Possession of a bachelor's degree with any major.

Experience Four years of professional experience adjudicating, analyzing, and determining eligibility for disability claims equivalent to a Disability Examiner, including two years equivalent to a Disability Examiner P11 or one year equivalent to a Disability Examiner 12.

This position is located within the Department of Health and Human Services, Disability Determination Service, 3036 W. Grand Blvd., Detroit, MI. This position will work remotely. Occasional travel to the office may be required. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview. Employees will be provided computers to perform state work. Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely, employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including:

  • A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions.

  • A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.

  • Suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.
