This position serves our partners at the Department of Corrections (DOC). The MNIT DOC team runs many unique applications that manage the information and security of the department, supporting 4,500 employees across 10 prisons and 50 field offices located throughout the state.
As a Video Conference Support Engineer for Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) supports the Department of Corrections and related agencies, you will ensure reliable, high-quality video conferencing across a complex, statewide environment. In this role, you’ll manage and support enterprise video platforms and conference room technologies, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, and collaborate with MNIT teams to maintain stable, secure, and efficient systems. You’ll lead efforts in installation, configuration, documentation, and service restoration for video conferencing solutions, helping the DOC and partner agencies successfully deliver meetings, hearings, and large-scale virtual events.
This position requires an employee to work onsite at 1450 Energy Park Drive, St. Paul, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with limited telework available. Telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) eligibility depends on residence:

Candidates living in Minnesota or within 50 miles of the worksite in a bordering state (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin) may telework up to 50%.

Minnesota residents living more than 50 miles from the worksite may be eligible to telework more than 50%.

Candidates living 50 miles or more from the worksite in a bordering state may work onsite 100% or may be telework eligible if relocating within 50 miles.
Minimum Qualifications

This position requires a minimum of three (3) years of experience in supporting video or remote conferencing technologies.
Experience must include:
-
Supporting and troubleshooting video conferencing systems, hardware, and related technologies in a professional IT environment.
-
Managing incidents, work orders, system upgrades, and service restoration across complex technical environments.
-
Documenting technical procedures, configurations, inventories, or runbooks for operational use
-
Knowledge of LAN/WAN concepts, TCP/IP networking, and how they interact with video/teleconference systems.
-
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a manner that facilitates mutual understanding.
-
Customer-focused approach grounded in active listening, empathy, and solution-oriented problem-solving to deliver positive user experiences.
Education in Information Technology (IT) or an IT related field may substitute for experience as follows: a master’s degree for eighteen (18) months of experience; a bachelor’s degree for one (1) year; and an associate’s degree for six (6) months.
*This position requires a driver's license for occasional travel.
Strongly Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience administering enterprise video platforms such as Cisco WebEx Control Hub, Microsoft Teams admin tools, or vendor-specific teleconference management systems (e.g., Barco XMS, Yealink cloud).

Experience designing or validating video system configurations, performing acceptance testing, and ensuring service quality or uptime in a large or multi-site organization.
-
Experience supporting large-scale, network-based video events or multi-site conferencing environments.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience mentoring or guiding IT staff or technical users, particularly on video or remote conferencing technologies.
-
Ability to coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional technical teams, vendors, and business partners on system changes, implementations, and issue resolution.
-
Knowledge of video-specific networking standards/protocols (e.g., H.323, video over IP, bridging H.320/H.323).
-
Ability to evaluate hardware/software life cycles and recommend upgrades, replacements, or improvements to conferencing systems.
