Full job description
Infrastructure Engineer — Polymarket About Polymarket Polymarket is the world's largest prediction market platform. We enable individuals to express views on real-world events by trading on outcomes across politics, economics, sports, culture, and current affairs. Built as a peer-to-peer marketplace with no centralized "house," Polymarket aggregates diverse opinions into transparent, market-based probabilities that reflect collective expectations about the future. We're growing fast: both in volume ($21B traded in 2025) and in adoption as an alternative news source. Our ambition is to become a ubiquitous beacon of truth in global media, powered by fast, reliable, and deeply technical market infrastructure. About the role Polymarket is looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to help build, scale, and operate the platform that our exchange and product engineering teams run on. This role is focused on the systems underneath the systems — Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, and reliability — that let our engineers ship fast without breaking things. You'll be a core individual contributor working with senior engineers across the org to design, automate, and harden the infrastructure that powers Polymarket at scale. This is a high-ownership role with minimal bureaucracy and a strong bias toward execution. What you'll do We're looking for an experienced infrastructure engineer who's comfortable owning systems end-to-end and enjoys solving hard operational and scaling problems.
-
Own core infrastructure: Design, build, and operate the Kubernetes-based platform that runs Polymarket's services, including cluster architecture, workload scheduling, and multi-environment management.
-
Build for scale & reliability: Design and implement systems for autoscaling, load balancing, service discovery, and disaster recovery that hold up under real trading volume.
-
Automate everything: Write code (not just scripts) to manage infrastructure as code, build internal tooling, and eliminate manual toil across deployment, provisioning, and operations.
-
Strengthen CI/CD: Build and maintain fast, reliable deployment pipelines that let engineering teams ship confidently and frequently.
-
Drive observability & incident response: Build monitoring, logging, and alerting systems; participate in on-call rotations and lead root-cause analysis for production incidents.
-
Manage cloud infrastructure: Architect and optimize our cloud footprint (AWS/GCP) for cost, performance, and security.
-
Collaborate cross-functionally: Work closely with backend, exchange, and product engineering teams to ensure infrastructure decisions support the platform's performance and growth needs.
What we're looking for
-
8+ years of professional infrastructure/platform/DevOps engineering experience, ideally at a large-scale company with high-traffic, production systems.
-
Deep hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Docker in production — cluster operations, workload orchestration, and container lifecycle management.
-
Strong software engineering fundamentals — able to write production-grade code (Go, Python, or similar), not just configuration and scripts.
-
Solid experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS or GCP), including networking, IAM, compute, and storage.
-
Experience with infrastructure-as-code tooling (Terraform, Pulumi, or similar) and CI/CD systems.
-
Comfortable debugging complex, distributed production systems on Linux and taking ownership of correctness, performance, and uptime.
-
(Plus) Experience operating infrastructure for high-throughput, low-latency, or financial/trading systems.
-
(Plus) Experience with service mesh, GitOps (ArgoCD/Flux), or multi-cluster/multi-region architectures.
-
(Plus) Familiarity with observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, OpenTelemetry).
Benefits
-
Competitive salary & equity
-
Unlimited PTO
-
Full Health, Vision, & Dental coverage
-
401k match
-
Hardware setup — new MacBook Pro, big display, & accessories
