Job Summary:
The Digital Content Specialist is a versatile, proactive member of the centralized digital team who creates, manages and optimizes content for the UVM Health website. Using a strategic, user-centered approach, this role works within Drupal CMS to connect patients and families with the information, services and resources they need through clear, accessible and easy-to-navigate content.
The ideal candidate is a strong writer and editor with CMS experience and a solid understanding of user experience and digital marketing. They are comfortable managing multiple projects, collaborating with stakeholders across teams and identifying opportunities to improve the user experience. This role develops, curates and publishes content, applying SEO/GEO best practices, taxonomy and metadata standards to improve discoverability and engagement.
Guided by brand standards and user needs, the Digital Content Specialist helps enhance the digital experience while contributing to a collaborative, data-informed culture focused on service, continuous learning and professional growth. The successful candidate is committed to fostering a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment for employees, patients, families and the communities we serve.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, integrated marketing/communications or public relations preferred.
Experience
-
At least eight years of experience in journalism, a fast-paced communications or marketing environment or a creative agency.

Keen awareness of audience, purpose and channel strategy.

Proven experience as a collaborator and relationship builder who is able to drive new processes while working through change.

Understands the ever changing digital ecosystem and keeps current with emerging best practices, tools and trends.

Strong project management expertise with a demonstrated ability to manage the priorities of multiple stakeholders in a complex environment.

Highly organized and proactive with experience in developing editorial calendars, curating content and measuring and acting on actionable insights to drive engagement.

Expert-level expertise in digital content creation, adaption, management and amplification.

Entrepreneurial in nature. Nimble and proactive.

Experienced across all storytelling formats – words, photographs, multimedia, audio, graphic design – with a strong sense of the format that best matches story with audience.

Experience with SEO, Analytics, content optimization, content management and digital asset management systems (Drupal and Wordpress preferred).

Strategically oriented and able to align with and execute against a strategic plan.

Proven experience in a high-stakes environment with the ability to prioritize a demanding workload with multiple deadlines.
