Schedule: Full-Time, Exempt. Standard Monday-Friday business hours.
Hybrid; Flexible: 3 days/week onsite
Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Clinical Bioinformatics Scientist II will perform analysis of next-generation sequencing (NGS) data or high throughput array data, primarily for clinical diagnosis purposes. Will analyze and interpret whole-exome sequencing, targeted re-sequencing, whole-genome genotyping, and whole-genome sequencing data in order to identify genetic variants that are causal to or associated with genetic disorders and childhood cancers. The successful candidate will not only be able to use established clinical workflows and software packages, but also be able to develop customized pipelines, databases and novel methodologies as needed. The Clinical Bioinformatics Scientist II is expected to participate in various clinical and research projects that will lead to novel clinical insights and publications. He/she also provides research support to investigators and assists in training investigators and new users to use bioinformatics applications and databases.
The Clinical Bioinformatics Scientist II must be able to perform all responsibilities of the Clinical Bioinformatics Scientist I job description. All responsibilities listed in this description are additional.
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience:

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and overlapping deadlines and dependencies.
-
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal is required.
-
Familiarity with various publicly available databases such as HGMD, ClinVar, TCGA, ICGC, Ensembl, Refseq, UCSC, 1000 Genome and ExAC.
-
Capable of designing and executing medium scale projects and programs.
-
Demonstrated ability to implement and understand complex algorithms.
-
Ability to develop and implement methods/algorithms and integrate tools and software resources for data analysis.
-
Intermediate experience with data/statistical analysis.
-
Experience with genomic or proteomic data analysis methods required.
-
Demonstrated ability to organize and perform analysis of large-scale complex data sets including statistical tests and quality analysis.
Preferred experience:
-
Experience developing AI/ML and large language model (LLM) applications, including NLP for analyzing, extracting, and structuring information from unstructured documents.
-
Experience with full-stack application development, including user interfaces, backend services, APIs, and databases.
-
Experience with modern AI approaches such as RAG, semantic search, vector databases, and/or agentic AI workflows.

Experience developing secure, reliable, and scalable applications using structured and unstructured data
Education/Licensure/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree in bioinformatics or related field with 2+ years of related work experience.
Advanced degree preferred.
Pay Scale Information
USD $100,630.00 - USD $134,160.00
