DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position focuses on helping children, youth, and families by providing entry level social service support. You will work with many community partners to assist families in reaching their goals. As a County Caseworker 1, you will perform the following duties:

Family Support:Provide regular and frequent contact with children, parents, and foster parents to address problems that led to agency involvement

Safety Assessment:Schedule and conduct interviews, home visits, and meetings to understand referral reasons and check on child safety and progress toward goals

Documentation Work:Prepare forms, maintain up to date case records, and complete written materials required by agency policies
-
Emergency Response:Respond to and investigate reports received outside normal work hours when assigned to on call duty
-
Community Coordination:Work with social service agencies, hospitals, mental health facilities, police, courts, schools, and community groups to help families meet service plan goals
Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment.

Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM; Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
-
Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences;or
-
A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences;or
-
Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.

Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

PA residency requirement is currentlywaivedfor this title.

This particular position requires you to possess a valid driver’s license which is not under suspension.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.

This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
