Orange-Ulster BOCES is seeking dedicated Teachers of Students with Disabilities to help children thrive by providing comprehensive and individualized services to meet their unique needs.

About the Role:

As a Teacher of Students with Disabilities, you will work with students who have significant developmental and intellectual disabilities, social/emotional needs, behavior management needs, and/or learning differences. You will play a key role in supporting students' individualized needs while fostering strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with students, identifying, developing, and implementing appropriate instructional strategies, materials, equipment, and environmental modifications to maximize each student's potential.

  • Draft annual goals and short-term objectives for IEP meetings, regularly evaluate student progress, and adjust goals as necessary.

  • Use critical thinking skills to effectively assess, develop and deliver training and information to establish and maintain strong relationships and regularly communicate progress towards goals.

What You Bring to the Team

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university

  • Valid NYS Certification in Special Education is required (SWD B-2, 1-6, or All Grades OR Dual Certification SWD 7-12 with ELA, Math, Science or Social Studies)

  • Experience preparing and delivering meaningful instruction based on students’ assessed needs, IEP goals, and motivational levels.

  • A passion for continuous learning and professional development.
