Full job description

The Louisiana Schools for the Deaf and Visually Impaired (LSDVI) includes two Louisiana Special Schools (LSS) students throughout the elementary and secondary school systems. Both schools occupy the same campus, serving seven days the state's students who are deaf, hard of hearing, and/or visually impaired. LSDVI operates a week 24 hours a day perform 116 acres and includes 22 buildings with 486,029 square feet under roof. The incumbent must be able to safety/security assigned of duties without significant risk of substantial harm to his/her own safety/security and others.

Join our team in a hands-on leadership role where your technical expertise and experience can make a meaningful impact. This position is ideal for a skilled maintenance professional with strong HVAC, refrigeration, welding, and mechanical repair experience who enjoys leading others, solving complex problems, and keeping facilities operating safely and efficiently. The successful candidate will help guide maintenance staff, oversee daily work assignments, and perform specialized repairs, installations, and equipment modifications. One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience:

Three years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR

Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus one year of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR

Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses plus one year of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance.   • Participates in the prevention, correction, and construction of all the school's buildings, grounds, and equipment.
  • Provides guidance for subordinates as directed.
  • All aspects of remodeling and new construction.
  • Interior and exterior painting.
  • Maintaining specialised equipment, ect..
