Job Description Summary

Coordinating and supervising patient and unit activity on a designated shift; Contributing to nursing and the hospital through the support of the mission, vision, and philosophy objectives, educational efforts, and nursing strategic plan; Participating in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating direct and indirect patient care delivery; Supervising, directing, delegating, and evaluating the patient care team and all unit personnel; Providing clinical leadership on a specific shift, serving as a role model and clinical expert/resources for personnel; Maintaining responsibility and accountability for family centered care patient outcomes and patient satisfaction for assigned unit(s) with rotating weekend call responsibility; Full time, rotating weekends

Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Current RN license in the state of Alabama;

  • 2 years clinical experience relative to the assigned unit(s) of responsibility;

  • Demonstrated clinical competencies at the mastery level in one or more advanced competency areas within the division;

  • Minimum one-year charge nurse experience;

  • Certification in specialty area OR completion of certification as soon as candidate meets all eligibility requirements as stipulated by the certifying board.

  • Educational Requirements: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree OR Documentation of acceptance/enrollment in a BSN program with successful completion of the degree within 3 years from date of hire;

  • Professional membership Preferred

LANGUAGE/ COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals of various educational levels via written and verbal formats;

  • Experience utilizing intranet/extranet and e-mail.

SKILLS:

  • Successful completion of courses in Neonatal Resuscitation Program, and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and/or Advanced Cardiac Life Support, as determined by clinical area of responsibility;

  • Successful course completion in Basic Cardiac Life Support;

  • Successful course completion of institutional Intermediate EKG Course
