Broker Assistant 📍 West Caldwell, NJ (Onsite Preferred | Remote Considered) 💼 Temp-to-Hire (90-Day Contract-to-Hire) 💰 $70,000 - $100,000 + Annual Bonus

An established independent health and life insurance brokerage is seeking an experienced Broker Assistant to provide critical administrative and operational support. This role is ideal for someone who has worked within an insurance brokerage environment and understands the complexities of enrollments, policy changes, carrier communications, and issue resolution.

This is not a sales or account management position. Instead, you'll serve as a key operational partner, ensuring insurance plans are processed accurately, resolving carrier issues, and helping keep day-to-day operations running smoothly.

What You'll Do:

• Process enrollments, plan changes, and policy updates
• Communicate regularly with insurance carriers regarding client coverage and eligibility
• Resolve carrier-related issues, discrepancies, and processing errors
• Track outstanding requests and follow through until issues are fully resolved
• Maintain accurate records and documentation
• Utilize Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and carrier portals daily
• Support the broker with essential administrative and operational tasks
• Ensure accuracy and compliance throughout the insurance process

Experience:

• 2+ years of verifiable insurance brokerage experience
• Prior experience supporting a health and life insurance broker
• Experience handling insurance administration and paperwork with minimal supervision
• Life & Health insurance experience and/or licensing required
• Strong understanding of individual and group health and life insurance products
• Experience working directly with insurance carriers
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience using carrier portals such as: UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield
