Job Description
Looking for a Senior Robotics Systems Engineer who thrives at system-level ownership and enjoys solving complex integration problems across robotics, autonomy, hardware, and field operations.
This role sits at the center of our autonomy stack, ensuring controls, planning, perception, sensors, compute, networking, and vehicle systems work together reliably in production environments. You'll help bridge the gap between individual subsystems and deployed autonomous vehicles, driving solutions from development through real-world deployment.
As an early member of a rapidly growing robotics organization, you'll have substantial ownership over architecture, integration strategy, debugging, and deployment processes while helping shape the future of autonomy.
- Own system-level integration of autonomous vehicle capabilities from development through deployment
- Serve as the technical bridge between Controls, Planning, Perception, Hardware, and Operations teams
- Drive bring-up, validation, and deployment of autonomous mining vehicles in production environments
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues spanning sensors, compute, networking, autonomy software, vehicle interfaces, and hardware systems
- Lead root-cause analysis efforts using logs, telemetry, metrics, system diagnostics, and field data
- Develop software, tools, and infrastructure that improve system reliability, observability, and operational performance
- Define integration requirements, interfaces, validation strategies, and deployment plans for new vehicle platforms
- Support field deployments and customer launches, including hands-on troubleshooting and performance tuning
- Collaborate closely with engineering leadership to identify risks, bottlenecks, and scaling opportunities across the autonomy stack
- Help establish engineering best practices for validation, diagnostics, testing, and deployment as the team grows
- Schedule note: Some travel (10%) and schedule flexibility may be required during deployments
Skills and Requirements
- BS, MS, or PhD in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
- 5-10 years of professional robotics, autonomy, embedded systems, or vehicle software experience
- Strong programming experience in Python and/or C+• Proven experience integrating and supporting real-world robotic, autonomous, or vehicle systems
- Strong systems-thinking mindset with the ability to understand interactions between hardware, software, sensors, controls, networking, and compute systems
- Experience debugging complex multi-component systems using logs, telemetry, diagnostics, and field data
- Understanding of core robotics concepts including:
- State Estimation
- Localization
- Planning
- Controls
- Sensor Fusion
- Experience working with deployed robotic platforms rather than simulation-only environments
- Comfort operating in fast-paced and ambiguous environments with evolving requirements
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical disciplines
- Autonomous Vehicle (AV) experience
- Off-road autonomy experience
- Mining, construction, agriculture, defense, trucking, or heavy equipment experience
- Experience with:
- GPS/RTK systems
- IMUs
- LiDAR
- Camera systems
- Radar systems
- Vehicle networks (CAN Bus)
- Experience supporting live deployments or field operations
- Familiarity with Linux-based robotics environments
- Experience with ROS or similar robotics middleware
- Experience developing system diagnostics, monitoring, and health management tools
- Exposure to functional safety or safety-critical systems
- Experience bringing up new vehicle platforms or robotic systems
- Startup or high-growth company experience
