Job Description
Job Description Insight Global is seeking a Mechanical Field Engineer to support a leading power plant construction company on large-scale energy infrastructure projects. This individual will work directly in the field supporting the installation, coordination, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems and equipment. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience supporting industrial, power generation, heavy civil, or commercial construction projects and possess strong mechanical aptitude in a fast-paced construction environment. This role will serve as a key liaison between engineering, construction, subcontractors, vendors, and project management teams to ensure mechanical work is completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project specifications.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Support the installation and construction of mechanical systems including piping, pumps, valves, boilers, turbines, heat exchangers, and balance-of-plant equipment.
- Review mechanical drawings, specifications, P&IDs, and engineering documentation to support field execution.
- Coordinate daily activities with superintendents, subcontractors, and craft personnel to ensure work progresses according to schedule.
- Assist with RFIs, field change requests, and resolution of design conflicts.
- Verify field measurements, equipment alignment, and installation quality.
- Track material deliveries, equipment status, and construction progress.
- Participate in mechanical inspections, punch walks, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Maintain accurate field reports, redlines, turnover documentation, and project records.
- Ensure compliance with project safety requirements, quality standards, and applicable industry codes.
- Attend construction coordination meetings and provide progress updates to project stakeholders.
Skills and Requirements
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related technical field.

Minimum 2+ years of field engineering, construction engineering, or mechanical construction experience at the Industrial level

Experience reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.

Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with powerplant equipment such as turbines, boilers, HRSGs, pumps, and piping systems.

Experience with Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Procore, or similar construction software.
