Job Duties

The role - what you'll do

Barr is seeking a cultural resources specialist to join our team. In this hybrid role, you will work with Barr scientists and engineers, clients, and regulatory agencies to address cultural resources and regulatory issues related to Barr projects. The position is based in Barr's Minneapolis, Minnesota, office.

A successful person in this role will work cooperatively across multidisciplinary teams, communicate clearly with clients and regulators, and apply sound technical judgment to complex cultural resources and permitting assignments.

Your impact - key responsibilities

Field studies:coordinate and conduct archaeological field studies, including surveys, National Register evaluations, data recovery investigations, construction monitoring, and related field documentation.

Report writing: prepare field site forms and written reports.

Task management: oversee and coordinate project tasks to help ensure timely, high-quality delivery.

About the opportunity

Hybrid:a hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. The position is based in Barr's Minneapolis, Minnesota, office.

Travel expectation:willingness to travel and complete fieldwork for short-term, out-of-town assignments is preferred.

Work environment:some work locations may feature rough terrain, steep slopes, and dense vegetation. Job assignments may also involve work on construction and industrial sites with limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities. Candidates must be able to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation. Applicants may be asked to participate in a drug screening program at the request of specific clients.

About you - required core competencies

Education:bachelor's degree in cultural resources, archaeology, anthropology, historic preservation, a related field, or equivalent education and experience

Experience:5 years of experience in cultural resources management

Demonstrated knowledge of Section 106 and state regulations concerning cultural resources management.

Experience with cultural resources literature reviews, fieldwork, National Register evaluations, data recovery investigations, construction monitoring, scheduling, and report preparation.

Knowledge of cultural resources and regulatory practices with a variety of project types and sizes and in a range of applicable state and federal regulatory settings throughout the Midwest or Northern Plains.

Familiarity with GIS in a field setting.

Ability to work cooperatively with good writing, editing, and communication skills.

Driver's license:possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future.

Compensation:The anticipated base salary range for this position is $60,000-$75,000 per year. Compensation will vary based on relevant experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus based on team and individual performance.
