Overview

Shift’s Available:  Variable

Employment Type: Per Diem (PD/PRN)

Hours: Variable

Location: Mission Regional Medical Center – Mission, TX

We are seeking a Retail Registered Pharmacy Technician, sometimes referred to as a Retail Pharmacy Tech. The Retail Pharmacy Tech in our retail pharmacy supports pharmacists by preparing and dispensing medications, assisting patients, processing insurance claims, managing inventory, and maintaining accurate prescription records. They cross train other Pharm Techs to work in both Retail and Inpatient Departments. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/PRN as needed.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • Crosstrain current Pharmacy Technicians to work in both the Retail and Inpatient Departments, ensuring they are capable of performing effectively in both areas

  • Prepare and dispense medications accurately based on prescriptions

  • Assist patients with prescription pick-ups, answering questions, and explaining medication instructions

  • Processing insurance claims, handle billing, insurance verification, and resolving payment issues

  • Manage stock, order supplies, and ensure medications are stored properly

  • Input prescription information into the pharmacy system

Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:  1. Previous pharmacy technician experience preferred 2. State Pharmacy Technician License/Registration required (if required by state regulations) 3. High school diploma or equivalent 4. Graduate of ASHP-accredited or equivalent pharmacy technician training program preferred
