Full job description

Associate Commercial Insurance Account Manager

Our client is a well-established independent insurance brokerage and risk management firm serving commercial businesses, contractors, utility and infrastructure companies, property owners, and individuals throughout the region. With approximately 100 employees and offices in Southern New Jersey, the firm partners with multiple insurance carriers to provide tailored coverage and risk-management solutions rather than underwriting insurance directly. The company offers a professional, friendly, team-oriented environment where employees know one another well and have opportunities to grow into servicing larger and more complex commercial accounts.

About the Role

This position will support an established middle-market book of approximately 40–50 commercial accounts and work closely with an Account Executive and regional leadership. The role is primarily onsite, requiring four days in the office and the possibility of one to two days working remotely each week.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary day-to-day contact for approximately 40–50 assigned commercial accounts.
  • Support the Account Executive with servicing and managing an established middle-market book of business.
  • Prepare and coordinate commercial policy renewals, including gathering information, reviewing coverage needs, and communicating with clients and carriers.
  • Process policy changes, endorsements, certificates of insurance, and other account documentation.
  • Communicate with insurance carriers regarding policy servicing, documentation, coverage questions, and client requests.
  • Assist clients with questions related to coverage, policies, billing, renewals, and account needs.
  • Maintain accurate account records and ensure documentation is completed in a timely manner.
  • Manage multiple client requests, renewal deadlines, endorsements, certificates, and carrier requirements simultaneously.
  • Stay current on policy changes, insurance regulations, and carrier requirements.
  • Collaborate with account executives, regional leadership, and internal team members to provide responsive and consistent client service.
  • Utilize AMS 360 and other agency management systems; experience with Epic is a plus, but training will be provided.

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will have at least three years of commercial insurance or commercial account management experience, preferably within an independent insurance agency or brokerage.
  • Middle-market experience is strongly preferred, and candidates should be comfortable independently handling renewals, endorsements, certificates of insurance, carrier communication, and day-to-day client service.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of three years of commercial insurance or commercial account management experience.
  • Experience servicing commercial property and casualty accounts; middle-market experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing renewals, endorsements, certificates of insurance, policy changes, and carrier requests.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple accounts and competing deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to work collaboratively while taking ownership of assigned accounts and responsibilities.
  • Experience with an independent insurance agency or brokerage preferred.
  • Construction, contractor, utility, infrastructure, or other commercial insurance experience is a plus.
  • New Jersey Property & Casualty license preferred; candidates without a license may obtain it after starting.
  • CISR, CIC, CRM, ARM, or other relevant insurance credentials are a plus.
  • Experience with AMS 360, Epic, or similar agency management systems is helpful but not required.
