Payroll Specialist with Workday

Description

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist for a contract opportunity in Tukwila, WA. This position will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for a growing organization. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience processing payroll in Workday and is comfortable managing payroll activities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Process multi-state payroll accurately and on schedule using Workday

• Review and audit payroll data, including hours worked, earnings, deductions, taxes, and garnishments

• Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries

• Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations

• Process new hires, terminations, compensation changes, and payroll adjustments

• Reconcile payroll reports and support month-end accounting activities

• Coordinate with HR and Finance teams to ensure employee data accuracy

• Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing and audits

• Generate payroll reports and provide analysis as requested

Requirements

• 3+ years of payroll processing experience

• Recent hands-on experience with Workday Payroll required

• Strong understanding of payroll taxes, wage and hour regulations, and compliance requirements

• Experience processing payroll for medium to large employee populations

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUPs, PivotTables, and data reconciliation

• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

• Strong customer service and communication abilities

• CPP certification preferred but not required

• Experience with multi-state payroll

• Experience supporting payroll audits and reporting

• Background working with integrated HRIS and timekeeping systems
