Full job description

VCA Indian Land Animal Hospital is proud to provide World-Class Medicine Meets Hometown Care to the pets and families of Indian Land, Fort Mill, South Charlotte, Ballantyne, Pineville, Marvin, and Waxhaw. Our team is committed to providing compassionate, high-quality veterinary medicine while creating a welcoming experience for every client and patient who walks through our doors.

We are seeking a Part-Time Veterinarian to join our growing team for approximately 20 hours per week . This position is ideal for a veterinarian who enjoys building relationships with clients and their pets, practicing quality medicine, and working as part of a collaborative and supportive hospital team.

Position Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive medical care to dogs, cats, and other companion animals.

  • Perform wellness examinations, sick-pet appointments, and follow-up examinations.

  • Diagnose and develop appropriate treatment plans for medical conditions.

  • Perform routine surgical and dental procedures based on experience and comfort level.

  • Provide preventive care recommendations, including vaccinations, parasite prevention, nutrition, and wellness diagnostics.

  • Educate clients regarding their pets' health, treatment options, preventive care, and long-term wellness.

  • Maintain accurate and complete medical records in accordance with hospital and professional standards.

  • Communicate effectively with the veterinary support team to ensure continuity of patient care.

  • Work collaboratively with the Medical Director, Hospital Manager, veterinarians, veterinary technicians/assistants, and Client Service Representatives.

  • Support same-day access and timely patient care while maintaining a high standard of medicine.

  • Participate in case discussions and contribute to a positive learning environment.

  • Follow VCA policies, medical standards, safety procedures, and applicable veterinary regulations.

  • Provide compassionate care and demonstrate professionalism with every client, patient, and team member.

What We Are Looking For

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) from an accredited veterinary school.

  • Active South Carolina veterinary license or eligibility to obtain one.

  • DEA license, or eligibility to obtain one, as applicable.

  • Strong clinical and communication skills.

  • A commitment to high-quality, compassionate patient care.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

  • Comfortable communicating medical recommendations and treatment options to clients.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • A positive, professional attitude and willingness to contribute to a supportive hospital culture.

  • New graduates and experienced veterinarians are welcome to apply.

Schedule

This is a part-time position averaging approximately 20 hours per week . The schedule can be discussed based on hospital needs and the veterinarian's availability, with a focus on creating a consistent schedule that supports both the hospital and the doctor.
