Sr BI Engineer

Job Description

Overview:

This is a highly technical Business Intelligence Engineering role focused on building scalable reporting, analytics, and data integration solutions. The ideal candidate is a hands-on Power BI and SQL expert who can design dashboards, develop ETL processes, and work within a data warehouse environment. While there is some interaction with business stakeholders, roughly 70-80% of the role is technical development.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions.
• Build reporting products that support business decision-making.
• Write complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and data extraction processes.
• Develop and support ETL workflows using SSIS.
• Work within data warehouse environments to integrate and transform data from multiple sources.
• Troubleshoot report, data, and performance issues.
• Partner with stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and backlog refinement.
• Collaborate with developers, analysts, and business teams to deliver BI solutions.

Skills and Requirements

8+ years of experience as a BI Engineer, BI Developer, Analytics Engineer, Data Warehouse Engineer, or similar role.

Expert-level Power BI development experience, including building enterprise dashboards, reports, data models, and analytics solutions.

Advanced SQL skills with experience writing complex queries, stored procedures, data extraction, transformation, and performance optimization.

Hands-on SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) experience for ETL development, data integration, and data movement.

Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, BI architecture, ETL processes, and reporting environments.

Experience delivering end-to-end reporting and analytics solutions in a Microsoft BI ecosystem.

Ability to gather business requirements and translate them into technical reporting solutions. Experience in regulated industries such as healthcare, medical devices, or FDA-regulated environments.

Experience working in Agile development environments, including sprint planning, Scrum ceremonies, and SDLC processes.

Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot and other AI-assisted productivity/development tools.

Experience supporting enterprise-scale BI reporting platforms and analytics programs.
