Opportunity Overview
Teradyne is seeking a Technical Software Engineering Manager I to lead a small team of software engineers within the Compute Software Solutions organization located in Agoura Hills, California. This leader will be responsible for managing approximately 4-5 engineers while remaining closely engaged in technical execution, software architecture discussions, project planning, and cross-functional collaboration.
The successful candidate will provide day-to-day leadership for software development activities supporting compute and automation solutions. This role requires balancing people leadership, technical guidance, and operational execution to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet business objectives and customer needs.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 4-5 software engineers.

Manage software development schedules, priorities, and resource planning.

Guide technical design discussions and software architecture decisions.

Support development of scalable, maintainable, and reliable software solutions.

Establish team objectives and ensure successful execution of project deliverables.

Collaborate with product, systems, hardware, quality, and program management teams.
-
Conduct performance and development discussions while fostering employee growth.
-
Drive continuous improvement in engineering practices, development processes, and quality standards.
-
Monitor project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
-
Ensure software solutions align with organizational goals, customer requirements, and industry best practices.

Contribute to workforce planning, hiring activities, and onboarding of new team members.

Support business planning activities and execution of organizational priorities.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field.

7+ years of software development experience.

Prior technical leadership experience leading projects or small engineering teams.

Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience delivering commercial or enterprise software products.
-
Experience with object-oriented programming and modern software development methodologies.
-
Strong knowledge of software architecture, code quality practices, testing methodologies, and source control systems.
-
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
-
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and drive execution through others.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Previous people management or formal supervisory experience.
-
Experience in automation, test systems, compute solutions, or related engineering environments.

Experience with Agile development methodologies.
-
Experience leading cross-functional development initiatives.
We are only considering candidates local to position location and are unable to provide relocation for this position.
This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Compensation:
The base salary range for this role is $165,700-$265,200. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.
Incentive Plan: This job is eligible for discretionary bonus(es) based on financial performance.
