Job Title: Field Service Technician

Division: Cortex

Department: Cortex

Reports to: Field Se rvice Manager

Exemption Classification: Hourly, Non-exempt

Must be located in or near Cincinnati, OH

Are you a hands-on problem solver who enjoys working with both machines and people? Do you like the challenge of diagnosing a problem, figuring out how things work, and getting equipment back up and running?

Cortex is looking for a Field Service Technician to join our growing Service team. In this role, you'll be the face of Cortex in the field—providing onsite and remote support for Cintas apparel dispensing machines throughout the Midwest while building strong relationships with customers and service partners.

This is a great opportunity for someone with strong mechanical and electrical aptitude who enjoys variety, independence, and being on the move. No two service calls are exactly alike, and you'll have the opportunity to work in environments ranging from manufacturing facilities and laboratories to hospitals and higher education campuses.

What You'll Do:

  • Troubleshoot & Repair: Provide onsite and remote service for Cintas apparel dispensing machines, including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, network verification, and software upgrades.

  • Install & Launch: Assist with installations throughout your territory, including equipment unloading, reassembly, network verification, and final system checkout.

  • Be the Customer's Go-To: Develop and maintain strong relationships with Cintas partners, service locations, and end customers.

  • Train & Support: Provide hands-on training to Cintas MAMs, SSRs, and end users when needed.

  • Partner Across Teams: Coordinate service visits with the Field Service Coordinator, Cintas service partners, and customers to ensure a smooth experience from start to finish.

  • Document Your Work: Maintain accurate service records and expense reports while using systems such as Salesforce, MaintainX, and Outlook.

  • Represent CORTEX: Deliver professional, responsive, and knowledgeable service that customers can count on.

Where You'll Work:

Your home base will be within the Cincinnati metro area, with service territory extending approximately 5 hours from your home base.

Travel is a significant part of this position, with travel expected 3–4 weeks per month. Approximately 25–50% of trips will not require an overnight stay, while some assignments may occasionally require a week-long stay.

Emergency service calls may occasionally be required during nights or weekends, although these situations are rare.

What We're Looking For:

We're looking for someone who is curious, dependable, resourceful, and comfortable getting their hands dirty. You don't have to know everything on day one—we're looking for someone with the technical foundation and problem-solving mindset to learn and grow.

You'll bring:

  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude

  • Basic understanding of computer operating systems, networking, and troubleshooting

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills

  • The ability to identify problems, think critically, and quickly develop solutions

  • Exceptional attention to detail when documenting work

  • Basic arithmetic skills

  • A valid state-issued driver's license

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical diploma or degree preferred

  • Previous field service experience strongly preferred

You Should Be Comfortable With:

  • Working independently while staying connected with a larger service team

  • Traveling frequently throughout your territory

  • Working in a variety of customer environments

  • Standing for extended periods, including on concrete floors

  • Kneeling, squatting, stooping, bending, crawling, climbing, and other physical movements as needed

  • Lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted or without a lifting device

  • Using computers and technology to troubleshoot equipment and document service activities

Why This Role?:

If you're someone who likes variety, enjoys solving technical challenges, and takes pride in helping customers succeed, this role gives you the opportunity to put those skills to work every day.

You'll have the independence of working in the field, the support of an experienced service team, and the satisfaction of seeing your work make a difference for customers across the Midwest.

If you're ready to put your technical skills to work and build a career where every day brings a new challenge, we'd love to hear from you!
