Location: Cleveland, OH

As a Quality Engineering Intern at Cleveland-Cliffs, the projects assigned will vary based on the intern’s education level and plant location but will generally reflect the duties outlined below.
Summary of Responsibilities:

Complete monthly safety inspections and safety observations for the Metallurgical Department.

Work safely and assure plant safety policies are followed.

Manage workflow in the mechanical and chemical test lab.

Manage test equipment calibrations.
-
Create new operating efficiencies to maintain the production, testing, and shipping of steel with a leaner workforce.

Maintain Steelmaking spectrometer lab, calibration, and on-call support.
-
Responsible for data-mining investigations with metallurgical grade performance, chemistry, scrap charges, etc.

Responsible for Metallurgical grade maintenance and development.

Manage 3rd party testing inspection.

Maintain tracking of Steelmaking scrap, referral, and diversions.

Responsible for Metallurgical investigations.
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Enrollment in Bachelor of Science program in the field of Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemistry, or other related technical degree

Completion of at least sophomore year of study by the summer of 2027
