Summary
About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the Special Operations Command - South, Intelligence Directorate (SOCSO-J2), Homestead AFB, FL, 33039.
Duties
- Serves as Deputy in the Intelligence Directorate, Special Operations Command South (SOCSOUTH).
- Responsible for assisting in the planning, direction, guidance, oversight and support relating to all aspects of the Intelligence and Security Programs and related future missions assigned to the Command.
- Provides the Director, J2 and the SOCSOUTH Commander with intelligence assessments and estimates during short-notice crisis/contingency events or on-going operations to support course-of-action development and resourcing decisions.
- Incumbent administers the development of in-depth intelligence feasibility assessments to determine best methodology for resourcing (force allocation, equipping, cross-leveling) and supportability.
- As assistant to the Director of Intelligence, applies knowledge of intelligence management, threat analysis, forecasting or other analytical methodologies.
- Coordinates with officials at national-level agencies, Theater J-2s, the U.S. Special Operations Command, service specific, tactical, and other organizations/units to ensure intelligence requirements are satisfactorily processed.
- Exercises supervisory responsibility over SOCSOUTH SCI and Collateral security offices and personnel consisting of DA civilian, military, and contractors engaged in security functions.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one (1) year of experience to the next lower grade (GG/GS-13) which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: 1) Experience integrating/fusing intelligence across multiple disciplines (GEOINT, SIGINT, HUMINT, OSINT); 2) Experience at a multi-star level command (such as Geographic Combat Command); AND 3) Experience briefing intelligence assessments and project status to senior military and civilian leaders. Progressively responsible experience is that which has included intelligence-related research, analysis, collections and /or operations. This experience should have included intelligence analysis and/or production, intelligence collection and/or operations, counterintelligence, or threat support directly related to the position to be filled. This experience should demonstrate: Knowledge of intelligence processes, cycle and organizations; Knowledge of and/or ability to use research tools such as library holdings, photographs, statistics, graphics and maps; Knowledge of the systems, procedures and methods of analyzing, compiling, reporting and disseminating intelligence data; and/or Knowledge of organization(s) for and methods of collecting and analyzing intelligence data.
How You Will Be Evaluated
You will be evaluated based on how well you meet the qualifications listed in this vacancy announcement. This position requires a 2 year trial period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.
