Labor & Employment Associate – Multiple Offices

Denver, CO; Kansas City, MO; Minneapolis, MN; Seattle, WA

Description: Fox Rothschild has an opening in multiple offices for an Associate in our Labor & Employment Department. The ideal candidate will have four to six years of relevant experience. We are not currently accepting resumes from search firms for this position.

Qualifications: Juris Doctorate (JD) required. Must be licensed to practice law in the state where the office resides in addition to the State of California.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Experience in defending against single plaintiff litigation matters, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, and reasonable accommodation.

  • Experience with managing PAGA matters.

  • Experience with managing class and representatives’ actions preferred.

  • Ability to manage day-to-day case responsibilities independently while collaborating effectively with partners, associates, and clients.

  • Strong research, writing skills, and academic record.

  • Experience drafting and responding to initial pleadings and discovery.

  • Experience drafting and arguing motions including dispositive and discovery motions.

  • Experience conducting and defending depositions, including plaintiff depositions and corporate witness depositions.

  • Experience managing matters through all phases of litigation, including fact discovery, motion practice, mediation, and trial preparation.

  • Experience providing employment counseling on federal and state employment laws and regulations is preferred.

  • Trial experience is a plus but not required.

  • The firm’s general expectation is that attorneys work in the office an average of three days a week.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment including, but not limited to computers, telephones, printers, and copiers.

Physical Requirements

  • Sedentary work: Exertion of physical strength to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 10 pounds. Work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.

Compensation & Benefits

  • The salary ranges for this position apply to Colorado, Minnesota, and Washington. The salary range reflects a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, education, licensure and/or certifications, geographic location, market demands and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for a position. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this position is $220,000 - $240,000 in Colorado, Minnesota, and Washington.
