Staff revenue accountant

Description

We're partnering with a growing manufacturing organization seeking a Staff Accountant to join its accounting team. This position will play a key role in revenue recognition, job costing, and financial reporting activities that support complex manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate has experience working in a larger company environment, understands project-based or production-related accounting, and has worked within a robust ERP system such as SAP S/4HANA or Oracle NetSuite.

What You'll Be Doing

• Perform monthly revenue recognition activities in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.

• Analyze contracts, sales orders, and project activity to ensure accurate revenue recording.

• Maintain and reconcile work-in-process (WIP) schedules.

• Review and analyze job costing data, including labor, materials, overhead, and project profitability.

• Partner with operations, project managers, and manufacturing leadership to monitor project performance and cost variances.

• Prepare monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.

• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.

• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis initiatives.

• Investigate cost variances and recommend process improvements.

• Leverage ERP reporting tools to streamline accounting processes and improve financial visibility.

• Assist with audit requests and internal control procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

• 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably within manufacturing, construction, engineering, or project-based environments.

• Strong understanding of revenue recognition principles and job costing methodologies.

• Experience working in a larger corporate environment with established accounting processes.

• Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA, Oracle NetSuite, Oracle ERP, Dynamics 365, or similar enterprise-level accounting systems.

• Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial data analysis.

• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.

• Ability to communicate effectively with both finance and operational teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting percentage-of-completion, project accounting, or complex revenue recognition environments.

• Exposure to Power BI, SAP reporting tools, or other financial reporting platforms.
