Pay or shift range: $95,000 USD to $117,500 USD

Reports To: Director of nursing

Position Summary:

The Behavioral Health Nurse Manager is responsible for the clinical, operational, and administrative oversight of nursing services within the Behavioral Health Department across five outpatient locations. The Nurse Manager leads a team of three registered nurses and five medical assistants while ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care for both adult and pediatric populations.

The Behavioral Health Nurse Manager oversees nursing operations supporting outpatient psychiatry/BH services, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), Spravato® (esketamine) treatment services. The position ensures compliance with federal, state, HRSA, DEA, REMS and organizational standards while promoting continuous quality improvement and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Clinical Leadership

  • Provide clinical leadership and oversight for behavioral health nursing and MA services across five clinical locations.

  • Ensure safe, evidence-based practice for pediatric and adult behavioral health patients.

  • Develop and maintain workflows that promote efficiency, quality, and patient safety.

  • Support integrated care between behavioral health, primary care, pharmacy, and specialty services.

  • Monitor and audit nursing documentation for completeness, quality, and regulatory compliance.

  • Serve as a clinical resource for complex patient care issues.

  • Participate in development and implementation of nursing protocols, standing orders, and clinical procedures.

Staff Leadership

Supervise, coach, mentor, and evaluate:

  • 3 Registered Nurses

  • 5 Medical Assistants

Responsibilities include:

  • Recruitment and onboarding

  • Orientation and competency validation

  • Annual performance evaluations

  • Corrective action

  • Scheduling and staffing

  • Employee engagement and retention

  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and a culture of respect and continuous learning.

Program Oversight

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)

Ensure:

  • Appropriate patient screening

  • Treatment workflow compliance

  • Equipment maintenance coordination

  • Staff competency

  • Documentation standards

  • Quality monitoring

Spravato (Esketamine) Program

Serve as nursing lead for the Spravato clinic by ensuring compliance with:

  • FDA REMS Program requirements

  • DEA regulations

  • Medication storage and security

  • Observation and monitoring requirements

  • Patient education

  • Documentation standards

  • Emergency preparedness

  • Staff competency validation

Operational Management

  • Coordinate nursing coverage across five clinic locations.

  • Monitor staffing needs and productivity.

  • Collaborate with behavioral health leadership on operational planning.

  • Oversee clinical supply management.

  • Participate in emergency preparedness planning.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and licensure

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (RN or LPN)

  • Current unrestricted Massachusetts nursing license

Experience

  • Minimum five years of progressive nursing experience

  • Preferred three years of leadership or supervisory experience

  • Experience in behavioral health or psychiatric nursing.
