Full job description
We’re building a world of health around every individual — shaping a more connected, convenient and compassionate health experience. At CVS Health®, you’ll be surrounded by passionate colleagues who care deeply, innovate with purpose, hold ourselves accountable and prioritize safety and quality in everything we do. Join us and be part of something bigger – helping to simplify health care one person, one family and one community at a time.
Position Summary The Senior Manager, Payer Negotiation Strategy and Market Intelligence, builds and maintains the payer-specific playbook set covering CVS Pharmacy’s largest payer relationships, establishes the pre-positioning frameworks applied ahead of material negotiations, facilitates structured deal reviews and debriefs, and drives adoption of approved negotiation preparation tooling across the function. It converts each negotiation into transferable institutional knowledge. This person will strengthen negotiation effectiveness by translating market intelligence, stakeholder insight, and negotiation learnings into clear, repeatable strategy. This role will monitor shifts in PBM and health plan strategy, develop a deep understanding of negotiation counterpart objectives, and convert those insights into practical playbooks and tools that help partner teams negotiate with greater consistency, precision, and confidence. This role will also lead post-mortem review of negotiation outcomes, using lessons learned to continuously refine strategy, strengthen playbooks, and improve future execution.
The role is an individual contributor with regular working exposure to Directors, Lead Directors and above, and is structured as a development seat toward deal ownership within Payer Relations. Success is measured by whether negotiation quality becomes repeatable, documented, and materially less dependent on any single individual.
Required Qualifications

- 5+ years of experience in strategy, market intelligence, consulting, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience leading, mentoring, developing, or influencing team members and stakeholders across a complex, matrixed environment
- Experience translating complex market, stakeholder, and business insights into concise, actionable tools, frameworks, or strategic guidance
- Experience conducting retrospective, post-mortem, or after-action analyses with Director-level and above participates to assess performance
- Demonstrated ability to identify patterns, extract lessons learned, and incorporate them into actionable insights
- Demonstrated experience driving sustained adoption to new processes and frameworks
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and shape decisions without direct authority
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to distill complexity into clear guidance for both leadership and partner teams
- Ability to influence without direct authority across a senior audience
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this role
- Travel up to 15% of the time
- Any additional tasks as directed by supervisor or manager
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal negotiation training or certification
- Experience within a center of excellence, enablement or capability-building function
- Experience creating materials for both executive audiences and operational partner teams
