🚨 PROJECT CONTROLLER | HIGH-GROWTH GENERAL CONTRACTOR
A rapidly growing General Contractor is looking for a Project Controller to lead a team of 6–8 Project Accountants and play a key role in a high-volume, rapidly expanding project environment.
This is a growth-driven opening: the current Project Controller was recently promoted within the organization to a net new position do to growth, creating an opportunity for someone new to step into this leadership role and join a strong, growing Finance & Accounting team.
If you're a Project Controller, Project Accounting Manager with strong construction experience and a background managing high-volume WIP/project accounting, this could be a great opportunity.
As always, this is a permanent, full time, fully benefited salaried position (this is NOT a temp role or temp to perm).
They are located in midtown and are in the office 5 days.
Compensation Package based on experience:
Base: $175- $220k base + discretionary bonus
🔨 The Role

Lead and mentor a team of 6–8 Project Accountants

Oversee project accounting and WIP across a significant project portfolio

Ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of project financial reporting

Provide guidance and oversight on high-volume vendor and project activity

Partner closely with project management, subcontractors, and internal Finance & Accounting teams

Help develop processes and improve the overall Project Accounting function

Manage priorities in a fast-paced environment where things move quickly

Serve as a key resource for the Project Accounting team and broader organization
Requirements
🎯 What They’re Looking For
-
Strong Project Accounting / Project Controls background
-
General Contractor experience strongly preferred
-
Experience leading or managing a team of Project Accountants
-
Significant high-volume project experience — some projects may have 20+ vendors
-
Strong understanding of WIP and construction project accounting
-
Experience overseeing a portfolio where individual Project Accountants may manage approximately $25M in projects
-
Residential construction experience highly preferred, particularly high-end residential
-
Construction Management backgrounds may also be considered, particularly from the subcontractor side
-
Strong organizational and prioritization skills
-
Self-sufficient with excellent communication skills
-
Comfortable working with both internal teams and subcontractors

Sage Intacct experience highly preferred
