Description

NOW HIRING: ASSISTANT CONTROLLER

💰 Salary: $110,000–$140,000 DOE + Annual Bonus

An established, privately held, family-owned organization is seeking a hands-on Assistant Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting and financial operations. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional ready to step into a broader leadership role with a smooth transition and direct access to ownership.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and comfortable managing the full accounting cycle in a close-knit, non-corporate environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee full-cycle accounting, including A/P, A/R, and General Ledger.

Manage month-end and period-end close processes.

Prepare financial statements, account reconciliations, and bank reconciliations.

Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

Oversee fixed assets, depreciation, capital expenditures, and inventory.

Manage financial compliance and regulatory reporting requirements.

Partner with external CPA firms on tax preparation and financial reviews.

Supervise and support a small accounting and payroll team.

Assist with accounting systems and billing software implementation.

Work closely with ownership and provide financial insights to support business decisions.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.

5+ years of related accounting or finance experience, or demonstrated readiness to advance into a broader role.

Strong knowledge of general accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close.

Experience with Sage 300 preferred.

Intermediate Excel proficiency required.

Systems implementation experience is a plus.

Background in transportation, distribution, trucking, or related operational environments is beneficial but not required.

Strong communication skills and a hands-on leadership approach.

IMPORTANT LOCATION REQUIREMENT

📍 Candidates must reside in the High Desert area. Local candidates are strongly preferred due to the onsite nature of the position. Exceptional candidates from nearby Inland Empire communities may also be considered.
