Managing Assistant Director of Strategic Initiatives
Under the direction of the Vice President of Strategic and Global Initiatives, the Managing Assistant Director of Strategic Initiatives (Managing Assistant Director 2) manages the development and support of programming in Strategic and Global Initiatives. Established in 2015, the Strategic and Global Initiatives division plays a pivotal role in coordinating innovative projects, cultivating strategic partnerships, and spearheading special initiatives for the university. The division encompasses several essential departments including: Strategic Initiatives, the Office of Career Services, the Center for International Studies, Kean Skylands, the Human Rights Institute, the Holocaust Resource Center and Council on Global Education and Citizenship.
The Managing Assistant Director develops, manages and leads initiatives as assigned that promote and support the mission and values of the University. At the direction of the Vice President, this employee oversees certain administrative and operational affairs, conducts research, develops papers and proposals and supports the development of the new programming housed in the division. The Managing Assistant Director oversees partnerships, such as those with College Steps, New Jersey Clean Communities, the PA of NYNJ and other organizations and also manages the operations of the annual Full Steam Ahead pre-college program, Work-Earn-Live-Learn (WELL) program and other division pre-college programs. Other work may include the development of new employer and external partnerships.
The Managing Assistant Director also supports the Chancellor’s office operations as assigned related to the Wenzhou-Kean University location in Wenzhou, China, as well as planning, logistics and operations related to international delegation visits and travel both to and from Kean University. This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours. International travel may be required, including travel to China.
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant professional experience in strategic planning, program management, organizational development, higher education administration or a related field is required. A Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, Education or a related field is preferred. Demonstrated experience managing complex, cross-functional projects or strategic initiatives from planning through implementation and evaluation is also preferred. Candidate must have excellent project management, organizational, analytical, problem-solving and communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other technology used for project management, data analysis, reporting and presentations.

In compliance with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Law, the annual salary range for this position is: $78,000 to $95,000. This position may also be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, a retirement plan and benefits for work life balance. Employment at Kean requires working at any of our New Jersey campus locations or affiliated work sites, which may include, but not be limited to: the main campus in Union; Kean Ocean in Toms River; Kean Skylands in Jefferson Township; Kean Jersey City; Kean at Brookdale in Middletown Township; Manahawkin; Princeton; and Trenton. Location assignments will be based on operational and university needs. Faculty may also be assigned to teach online classes for Kean Global.
