Job Description

Insight Global is looking for 2 Construction Installation Engineers in the Lake Orion & Warren, Michigan locations. The construction engineers will be involved in start of shift meetings, whiteboard reviews, red tag events & hand off meetings. During shutdowns you will be working heavier overtime at plant locations. This person needs to be self-sufficient on the site and will primarily be working on their own once they are caught up to speed on the projects. The engineer will be responsible for developing the statement of requirements, assisting the purchasing team in the bid and award process, executing, execution of the pre-mobilization process and managing the execution of process equipment and conveyor installation in various manufacturing centers. You will be responsible for installation execution activities across all ME Centers.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Generate technical solutions for current, new and major vehicle programs
  • Provides technical leadership for the Supplier
  • Develops engineering designs (including subsystems)
  • Develops Installation SOR (Statement of Requirements)
  • Solves engineering related problems and manages implementation
  • Works with engineering functions, suppliers, plant personnel and others to implement cost reduction, methods and product improvements, and to support build programs
  • Communicates information to and from internal and external customer organizations
  • Coordinates and consults with departments outside engineering, such as manufacturing, GM Centers, IE, Layout team and Material
  • Manage planning and execution of all shutdown activities coordinating with all departments to meet shutdown timing
  • Stay abreast of new technology and competitive products
  • Manages all aspects of the project execution including estimating, safety and scheduling
  • Manage all aspects of the ME Safety Contract Management Process
  • Support the ME Execution manager by providing timing updates, spending forecasts and project updates
  • Supports debug and validation at the ME Center
  • Ability to support all shifts and holidays
  • Responsible to support various Centers in design process and installation of equipment based on requirements from the Center.
  • Responsible for complete installation project from concept, design, installation, startup, and validation
  • Completing the annual Seller Evaluations on all projects

$40/hr to $45/hr Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.

Skills and Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in construction management, safety management, tooling installation, conveyor design, integration of conveyor equipment, and supporting plant projects – can come from construction, trades, or automotive background
  • Proficient in MS Project, Excel, AutoCAD, and AutoDesk
  • Need to be a very strong personality & be able to lead groups & present in front
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Tooling installation
  • OSHA 30
  • PMP Certification
  • Union construction experience
  • Controls automation & robotic system experience
