Job Description
Day to Day: As a thermal test engineer in the IOT group you will be responsible for thermal testing IOT product hardware including switches, routers, and wireless products. You will be expected to:
- Generate detailed test plans for all testing.
- Interface with cross functional teams to determine critical components to monitor, system set-up requirements and operating environmental requirements.
- Prepare system for thermal testing including thermocouple attach, system configuration set-up, Diag and IOS set-up for traffic generation, thermal chamber set-up, etc.
- Interface with all cross-functional groups to troubleshoot set-up issues. Communicate test results to all applicable groups and provide support with any thermal issues. You will be part of the Cisco IOT group. You will join a small group of mechanical engineers as your primary team but will collaborate with cross-functional teams including the hardware, software, RF, product marketing and manufacturing.
Skills and Requirements
- Experience with system level thermal testing.
- Experience with script writing for thermal test set-up.
- Experience with set-up and configuration of traffic generation at system level prior to thermal test execution.
- Experience interfacing with cross-functional teams including electrical, mechanical, RF and software engineering.
- Able to analyze thermal test data, write a comprehensive thermal test report and identify root cause of any thermal issues and provide improvement recommendations.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Good team player.
- BS/MS in ME, EE or CS
