The Laboratory Technician 2 will support test operations by managing inertial navigation laboratories, tracking test equipment assets, coordinating calibration and maintenance of tools, and assisting with test preparation for complex systems. This role works closely with engineers to stage hardware, configure test setups, and provide hands-on support during test execution to ensure accurate data collection and efficient test workflows.
What You’ll get to Do:

Assisting in managing and tracking test equipment assets, including inventory updates and documentation.

Assist as a regular point of contact for routine engineering lab operations and readiness needs.

Coordinate repair activities for malfunctioning or damaged test equipment, including preparing documentation, submitting service requests, and tracking status to closure.

Coordinate calibration, maintenance, and repair of tools and test equipment with internal and external resources.

Prepare test setups program testing, including staging hardware and configuring fixtures, cables, and instrumentation.

Maintain organized test areas, ensuring tools and equipment are stored, labeled, and handled in accordance with procedures.

Communicate equipment status, calibration schedules, and issues to engineers and test leads in a timely manner.

Collaborate with engineering, test, and program management to understand upcoming test needs and ensure lab capabilities and configurations are aligned.
Basic Qualifications Laboratory Technician 2:
-
High school diploma with 2 years of relevant experience.
-
Experience working in an engineering lab, test environment, or manufacturing setting.
-
Ability to follow written procedures, engineering instructions, and safety guidelines accurately.
-
Basic understanding of hand tools, test equipment, and mechanical/electrical hardware.
-
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for managing equipment, documentation, and test setups.
-
Ability to work in a lab or shop environment, including lifting and moving equipment as required.
-
Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with engineers and technicians.
-
Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., Outlook, Excel, and SharePoint).

US Citizenship is required

Ability to obtain and maintain an active US Government Secret security clearance.

Ability to work onsite full-time in Woodland Hills, CA
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Some technical coursework or vocational training in electronics, mechanics, or engineering technology.

Understanding of electrical and/or mechanical drawings, schematics, and test procedures.
-
Experience supporting setup and execution of tests on complex systems.
-
Experience working with and troubleshooting legacy Windows operating systems and Linux.
-
Working knowledge of ESD handling, safety practices, and test lab best practices.
Primary Level Salary Range: $47,200.00 - $78,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
