The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

Advances the organization's mission, fosters collaboration, and ensures operational excellence. Supports and upholds the Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network's (FLDRN) mission, vision, and values. Directs the work of the day-to-day operations of FLDRN and directs strategies to ensure FLDRN meets established annual goals and objectives and maximizes FLDRN's mission. Provides visionary leadership, setting strategic goals and objectives aligned with FLDRN's mission.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provides leadership in the management and success of the overall organization (FLDRN). Oversees all clinical, financial, development, quality, compliance, strategic planning, and new program development. Provides general direction for the activities of professional and non-professional staff. Identifies needs, coordinates development, and directs the implementation of expansion and improvement of services. Develops and achieves annual goals and objectives for the organization.

  • Collaborates with transplant program leaders for local, regional, and national hospitals to review and revise organ donor recovery activities to identify and implement opportunities for continuous performance improvement. Maintains effective communication with transplant centers within FLDRN’s donation service area (DSA) and UNOS Region 9.

  • Identifies and recruits healthcare and community members to serve on FLDRN’s Advisory Board. Coordinates Advisory Board Meetings, reviews agenda and materials for approval, and seeks collaboration and support from members to identify and implement targeted initiatives to increase organ donations.

  • Develops and implements best practices concerning organ recovery and establishing effective relationships with donor hospitals.

  • Provides leadership in regional and national efforts to enhance organ donation. Serves as FLDRN representative on the Donate Life New York State Board of Directors. Serves as FLDRN representative with other local and regional health organizations and community groups. Serves as FLDRN representative with OPTN/UNOS and AOPO.

  • Assumes responsibility for assuring that FLDRN is compliant with all state and federal guidelines, laws, and regulations relating to organ donation. Guides interpretation to departmental leadership. Develops organizational policies and procedures with the FLDRN leadership team. Ensures policies and procedures are consistent with respective regulatory requirements throughout the organization. Recommends significant policy changes when necessary.

  • Attends and actively participates in meetings at local, state, and national levels to enhance the reputation and effectiveness of FLDRN.

  • Provides oversight for recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluation of staff following personnel policies of Strong Memorial Hospital and requirements unique to FLDRN. Recommends or approves action on appointments, terminations, promotions, salary, and other related personnel matters at the department level.

  • Provides oversight for developing public and professional marketing materials and initiatives to increase NY State Donate Life Registry enrollments. Serves as media spokesperson for FLDRN.

  • Oversees preparation and management of annual budget, showing the expected revenue and expenditures. Determines, justifies, and recommends capital expenditures. Negotiates and executes contracts on behalf of the organization.

  • Reports annually and as requested to the Joint Committee on Quality of Care at Strong Memorial Hospital.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare, health administration or business administration and 5 years demonstrated experience in clinical, personnel, and fiscal management of an Organ Procurement Organization required

  • Master's degree preferred

  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Previous experience as a senior leader in an organ procurement organization preferred
