Mass Properties Engineer | PDS Tech Commercial | Aviation Industry

Location: Vandalia, OH

Pay Rate: $59.28/hour

THE OPPORTUNITY

PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leader in the aviation industry to find an experienced Mass Properties Engineer to support the development of advanced aerospace systems.

In this role, you'll apply your expertise in mass properties calculations, analysis, modeling, simulation, and aircraft inventory to support sophisticated aerospace products throughout their lifecycle. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and contribute technical expertise to products ranging from advanced mission systems and aircraft to orbital and space exploration technologies.

Your work will help ensure aerospace systems meet critical design, performance, and engineering requirements.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As a Mass Properties Engineer, you will:

  • Lead the calculation and analysis of mass properties for advanced aerospace systems.

  • Develop, maintain, and validate mass properties models and simulations.

  • Conduct aircraft inventory activities and accurately document component weights and configurations.

  • Perform aircraft weighing and mass properties assessments.

  • Apply engineering principles to support design and development activities throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Analyze complex aerospace components, structures, and systems.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary design and development teams.

  • Utilize Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) tools to support engineering analysis.

  • Contribute to the research, design, development, testing, certification, deployment, and support of advanced aerospace products.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

  • Communicate technical findings and recommendations to engineering and program teams.

  • Support the development and improvement of engineering processes, models, and analytical methods.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline .

  • 6+ years of relevant engineering experience .

  • A higher-level relevant degree may substitute for some required experience.

  • Experience with:

  • Aircraft inventory

  • Mass properties calculations

  • Mass properties analysis

  • Mass properties modeling

  • Mass properties simulation

  • General knowledge of engineering principles and practices.

  • Exposure to Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) tools.

  • Experience working within multidisciplinary design and development teams.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation skills.

  • English proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing.

  • Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering.

  • Aerospace and Defense industry experience.

  • Knowledge of industry-standard aerospace engineering principles.

  • Experience with parametric design.

  • Knowledge of Model-Based Definition (MBD).

  • Understanding of flight mechanics fundamentals.

  • Experience with aircraft weighing.

  • Knowledge of aerospace principles and engineering practices.

  • Experience supporting U.S. Department of Defense programs.

  • U.S. Military background or experience working in military aerospace environments.

Pay Details: $59.28 per hour
