Senior Software Engineer

You will:

• Design and implement measures to increase the efficiency and decrease the cost of Fleet Response operations

• Partner with other teams at Waymo to find headroom in their shares of operational workload

• Generate and research ideas for new optimizations of the work operators perform

• Work with onboard engineering teams to sunset operational work that is no longer necessary

• Contribute to cross-functional analysis and optimization efforts

• Improve regression-detection and culprit-finding for changes that negatively impact operational metrics

You have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar technical field of study

• 5+ years of industry experience navigating complex systems with distributed ownership

• Experience with C++ or related structured programming language

• A curious, investigative mindset with a bias towards action

• Strong ability to dive into new problems and codebases

• Experience working with non-technical cross-functional partners

We prefer:

• Experience designing analytical frameworks to answer difficult product questions

• An innate desire to make things better and reject the status quo

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
