Job Description

An employer in Greenville, TX is seeking a Mass Properties Engineer to support aircraft modification programs across a diverse fleet of military and commercial fixed-wing aircraft. This engineer will be responsible for weight and balance analyses, center of gravity calculations, mass properties assessments, and weight control planning while partnering closely with structures, design, manufacturing, and flight test teams. The ideal candidate has experience performing engineering calculations involving weight, CG, mass distribution, stability, moments of inertia, or related analyses on complex platforms such as aircraft, ships, spacecraft, military vehicles, or other large engineered systems. Day to day responsibilities include:

  • Perform weight and balance analyses to support aircraft modification and sustainment programs

  • Calculate aircraft weight, center of gravity (CG), and mass moments of inertia using engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical documentation

  • Assess the impact of engineering changes and modifications on aircraft mass properties

  • Develop and maintain weight statements, aircraft inventories, and mass properties databases

  • Establish and monitor weight control plans for active programs

  • Generate technical reports and presentations supporting program milestones and customer deliverables Participate in aircraft weighing activities, flight line support, and validation efforts as required

  • Collaborate with structures, loads, design engineering, manufacturing, flight test, and program management teams

  • Support multiple concurrent programs while maintaining technical accuracy and meeting schedule commitments

  • Assist with engineering estimates, planning activities, and proposal efforts

Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or another technical discipline
  • 4+ years of experience performing: Weight & Balance Analysis, Mass Properties Analysis, Center of Gravity (CG) Calculations, Stability Analysis, Weight Control Engineering, Vehicle Dynamics or Similar Analytical Engineering Work
  • Strong experience performing engineering calculations and technical analysis using Excel
  • Experience evaluating the impact of design changes or modifications on weight distribution, balance, or overall system performance
  • Experience working from engineering drawings, models, technical data packages, or configuration documentation
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Aircraft weight & balance or mass properties experience
  • Fixed-wing aircraft experience
  • Aerospace or defense industry experience
  • Experience with mass moments of inertia calculations
