Full job description

Job Details: This position is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of team members engaged in hatching, pulling, vaccinating, and egg handling of Cobb eggs and chicks.

The essential functions of this position include:

  • Ensuring accuracy and compliance of customer egg-packing shipments.

  • Serving as a certified Embrex trainer and vaccine mixer.

  • Ensuring the quality and effectiveness of hatchery sanitation.

  • Maintaining a general understanding of hatchery maintenance.

  • Performing duties related to daily farm egg inflow and outflow operations, as well as egg depot responsibilities.

  • Performing duties to ensure customer order accuracy and quality.

  • Supervising biosecurity procedures and performing the steps necessary to maintain biosecurity.

  • Performing and/or supervising routine quality procedures.

  • Interpreting company policies for team members and supporting safety programs and training.

Requirements

Experience

  • College degree or equivalent experience with limited related experience.

Accountability

  • Entry-level professional position responsible for supervising an individual or small group of non-exempt team members, including clerical, administrative, and production employees.

  • Provides training, monitors work quality, and coaches team members on performance.

  • Responsible for the quality of results produced by the team.

  • Must be able to work independently and evaluate alternatives in situations not covered by written procedures.

Computer Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Must be able to prepare reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals using available computer programs.

Travel

  • Four (4) or more domestic trips per year.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervises a team of approximately 10 or more hourly team members.

Biosecurity Requirements

  • The job site is a biosecure environment that requires showering before entering the facility and may require multiple showers throughout the workday.

  • Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company.

  • No jewelry may be worn on the job site except approved medical identification jewelry.

  • Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid contact with avian species, including chickens, ducks, and other birds.

  • The Company Animal Welfare Policy must be followed at all times.

Physical Requirements

  • Must use safe lifting techniques.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, talk, and hear.

  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Team members are expected to follow all required safety procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment at all times.
