Job Summary Responsible for providing nutrition care and education to patients and/or caregiver(s). Evaluates patients' nutritional status, develop and implement care plans, assess nutrient requirements, recommends nutrition prescriptions, evaluates patient tolerance and effectiveness, as well as communicates information to physicians and other health care professionals.

This is a hybrid position.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinates, reviews, plans, updates, and implements medical nutrition therapy to patients according to established policies and procedures.

  • Monitors patients receiving nutrition support.

  • Provides nutrition education to patients, caregivers, staff and community partners.

  • Serves as a preceptor for medical, dietetic and food service interns and/or clinical research.

  • Participates and serves on interdisciplinary team meetings, patient rounds, multidisciplinary committees and/or discharge planning.

  • Assists with performance and quality improvement projects.

  • Provides three accredited CEU to clinical nutrition team and/or other staff, interns and students.

  • Manages two assigned projects by the clinical nutrition manager.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibility This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education - Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)

  • Experience - Five (5) years of clinical experience or work experience as dietitian nutritionist.

In Lieu Of If hired on or prior to December 31, 2023, must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in nutrition or dietetics, Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and five years of clinical experience or work experience as dietitian nutritionist.

Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses

  • Board certification in area of practice such as CSSD, CNSC, CDE, certifications from Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics or Commission on Dietetic Registration

  • Registered Dietitian state licensure (i.e.: SC LLR)

  • Registered Dietitian licensure from the CDR

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to maintain 75 hours of continuing education every five (5) years

  • Ability to interpret data, teach, communicate to other healthcare professionals, manipulate numbers and write in medical record

  • Knowledge of AND, Joint Commission, Department of Health and Environmental Control and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services

  • Effective at data conversion
