Overview

DATA ANALYST (DOCK):

Bowhead seeks a Data Analyst to support an upcoming client located in the DC metropolitan area. The Data Analyst will utilize automated management information systems and other online database services/applications to electronically capture/scan data, populate systems, retrieve data, and provide information/status updates.

Responsibilities

  • Build new analytics and reporting capabilities to support program evaluation and operations.

  • Conducts data analyses, using software such as Microsoft O365 Power Apps, consulting with Program Manager to identify the appropriate data, methodological approach, and design.

  • Automates the collection of data from varying sources, formats, and quality and preparing them for analysis.

  • Create requested business products for optimal extraction, analysis, and delivery of large data sets.

  • Experience having effective conversations with clients about their support needs and requirements, managing the intake process, and asking the right questions to scope and solve the requests.

  • Demonstrate judgment and discretion when dealing with highly sensitive people data and business issues.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and demanding environment

  • Builds analytical tools to utilize the data pipeline, providing actionable insight into key business performance metrics including operational efficiency and stakeholder data analysis.

  • Develops, coordinates, modifies, and maintains product-specific roadmaps and project plans as assigned, incorporating studies, analysis/analytics, and journeys.

  • Conceptualizes and generates automation that allows big data to be accessed and analyzed

  • Monitors automation tools to ensure document analysis tools remains backed up and readily accessible Program staff.

  • Troubleshoots data issues within the business operations and presents solutions to these issues.

  • Manipulates large data sets and use them to identify trends and reach meaningful conclusions to inform strategic business decisions

  • Creates advanced machine learning algorithms and statistics: regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modeling, clustering, decision trees, neural networks, etc.

  • Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.

  • Utilizes knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests, and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.

  • Provide minimal DOC support in the absence of the Docketing Specialist, Docketing Analyst, and the Project Manager/SME.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Science/Computer Science/Software Engineering/Business preferred or other relevant combination of training and experience.

  • Four (4+) years of work experience, in Data analysis, providing systems support and maintenance in assigned product.

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts and demonstrable skills in oral and written communications, examples of technical publications / conference presentations may be requested.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds

  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time

  • Must be able to twist, bend, and squat periodically

Target hourly range is between $60-$70 commensurate with experience.

Bowhead considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and business considerations when extending an offer.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain a clearance at the Public Trust (NAC) level. US Citizenship is required at this location.
